Abus? Assa? Porsche? Volkswagon?

It’s like cars really, Nissan is Peugeot – Porsche is Volkswagon – Abus is Assa in the locksmithing world comments the owner of leeds locksmiths.

The new ABUS PFAFFENHAIN (APF) 2011 price list launches on April 1 with an average price increase of 1.7% from those published in July 2009.

However customers will see some significant and unavoidable price rises in oval and night-latch cylinders. Within ABUS, these APf oval and night-latch cylinders are peculiar to the UK, and are effectively manufactured exclusively for the UK market in comparatively small volumes.

ABUS UK, in its first APf pricing review since July 2009, and despite increasing costs in raw materials and global inflation, has been able to reduce some international APf high volume cylinders, but has also been forced to raise the price of APf oval and night-latch cylinders to reflect the true overheads for their manufacture. According to the company, despite what on average comes out of an inflation beating average 1.7% increase. We’re all having to now pass on a price increase says the owner the locksmith leeds company.

ABUS UK is aware that the almost 50% RRP increases it has applied to APf oval and night-latch cylinders may leave some of it’s loyal APf distributors wondering how to justify these specific increases to their customers.

In recognition of successful past specification of APf oval and night-latch cylinders, and to help ease the initial impact of the price rise, ABUS UK will commit to honouring its 2009 prices for oval and night-latch cylinders plus a 10% surcharge, provided the distributor has a proven need for their further use in existing customer contracts. This support will run until the end of 2011. ABUS UK’s MD Nick Venderhoest says: “The specific decision to raise the price of our oval and night-latch cylinders was taken in good faith based on commercial factors.”
